Vanesa Scott-Thompson

VP of Program at Elim Christian Services

Vanesa Scott-Thompson is the current Vice President of Program at ELIM Christian Services. Vanesa has dedicated their career to education, holding various leadership positions in schools and educational organizations throughout their career.

Vanesa began their career as an English and Reading Coach at Kaplan Inc. in July 2008. Vanesa then spent a year as an Instructional Coach at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) from August 2009 to June 2010. In August 2010, Vanesa became the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the Association for Black Educational Achievement (ABEA). Vanesa held this position until July 2011 when they became Principal at Plato Learning Academy, a position they held for three years until July 2014.

From December 2014 to August 2015, Vanesa served as Assistant Director at the Illinois State University-Chicago Teacher Education Pipeline. Vanesa then became Principal at the Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago in September 2015, a position they held until June 2019.

In their current role as VP of Program at ELIM Christian Services, Vanesa is responsible for overseeing all programmatic aspects of the organization. Vanesa is passionate about education and believes that all students have the right to a quality education regardless of their background or circumstances.

Vanesa Scott-Thompson received their Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from Loyola University Chicago, their M. Ed. in Educational Administration & Supervision from Loyola University Chicago, and their B.A. in Secondary Education, English from DePaul University. Vanesa also attended Whitney Young HS.

They are on a team with Robert Marsh - VP of Advancement, Marketing & Communications, Walter Dukes - Director of Facilities & Transportation, and Brian Nichols - Director of IT. Vanesa Scott-Thompson reports to Bill Lodewyk, President.
