Merja Ranta-Aho

Merja Ranta-Aho is the Executive Vice President of HR at Elisa. Merja has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.

Merja started their career as a research scientist at the Helsinki University of Technology, Communications Laboratory, where they researched and taught undergraduate students in human factors in telecommunications, user-centered design of telecommunication services, and inclusive design/design for all.

In 2000, they joined Elisa as Head of Human Factors, and they have since held various positions within the company, including Director of Human Resources and Executive Vice President of HR.

Under their leadership, Elisa has won numerous awards for its employee-friendly policies, including the Great Place to Work award in 2019.

Merja Ranta-Aho has a Licentiate in Technology from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan, a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Helsinki, and is currently completing a SEP at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
