The Director of Environmental Health & Safety will be responsible for the following:

  • Serve as the primary liaison with government agencies regarding all environmental, occupational, and life safety issues, including, but not limited to the U.S Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administrations, State, and other agencies as applicable.
  • Analyzes and develops environmental health and safety information reporting, consolidating, and reporting key EHS statistics monthly, quarterly, or annually, as required by outside agencies.
  • Manages all EHS staff and supervises their development and progression; provides support as required to operating divisions, departments, and staff to maintain compliance with established policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Advises leaders on performance improvements; leads improvement initiatives; directs departments on specific regulatory safety and environmental issues and requirements through education and training programs.

Requirements:

  • Ability to travel overnight up to 40-50% of the time. Work outside of normal business hours, including nights/weekends may be required for urgent matters.

  • Ability to work in office, field, and shop settings.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Health and Safety is preferred but may consider degree in Construction Management or related field of study. Associate degree along with safety program management experience may be considered.

  • Prefer Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.

  • Ability to inspect facilities, job sites, heavy equipment, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with government agencies, industry groups, and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex regulations and management systems.

  • Ability to analyze data and determine trends.
