Velma Makori, MBA, BSN has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Their most recent position is as a Clinical Program & Business Development Manager at Elsa Science, where they started in December 2022. Prior to that, they served as an Advisory Board Member at Minnesota State University, Mankato starting in January 2022.

From 2019 to 2022, Velma worked at Livio Health, initially as a Clinical Field Operations Manager, where they managed field staff teams and supported day-to-day operations. Later, they were promoted to Director, Palliative Care Operations, where they collaborated with executive leadership to develop operational strategies and monitored operational quality measures.

Additionally, they worked as a Registered Nurse at Augustana Care from 2016 to 2019, where they were responsible for coordinating admission nursing services and developing care plans for patients.

Velma's earlier experience includes roles such as Clinical Nurse Manager and RN Staff Nurse at Walker Methodist from 2013 to 2016, Staff RN at Golden LivingCenters from 2009 to 2015, and Pediatric Homecare Nurse at Accurate Home Care from 2010 to 2015. Velma also served as an RN – PCA Supervisor at Dependable Care, Inc. in 2013 and as an RN Staff Nurse at Tender Loving Care (TLC) Metro, LLC from 2009 to 2010.

Velma Makori holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and Management, with a focus on Healthcare Administration, from St Mary's University of Minnesota. Velma also completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Registered Nursing at the same university. Prior to that, Velma obtained their Associate's degree in Registered Nursing from Minneapolis College. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained certifications as a Public Health Nurse and Registered Nurse from the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
