Matthew Burnett has had a long and varied career in business. In 2020, they became the Chief Executive Officer of embark.live. From 2017 to 2020, they were Co-Chair of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Innovation Committee, where they worked to strengthen the innovation economy in Brooklyn. From 2012 to 2017, they were the CEO of Maker's Row, a marketplace that connects business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs with the best manufacturers in the United States. From 2010 to 2012, they were the CEO and founder of The Brooklyn Bakery, which specializes in high-grade leather accessories. Finally, from 2007 to 2010, they were the CEO and Design Director of Steel Cake Watch Company, a watch and accessory company headquartered in New York.
Matthew Burnett attended Pratt Institute from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a degree in Industrial Design with a focus on Product Design, Communication Design, and Art History. Prior to that, they attended Hampton University from 2002 to 2003, studying Architecture, Jazz, and Urban Planning.
