Erez Tsur

Genomic Scientist at Emedgene

Erez Tsur has a diverse work experience in the field of genomics and genetic sequencing interpretation.

Starting in 2003, Erez worked as a Research Assistant at Dune Medical Devices, followed by a similar role at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 2004 to 2008.

In 2008, they joined Monsanto Company as a Field Experiments Manager and Molecular Scientist.

From 2012 to 2015, Erez worked on their M. Med. Sc thesis at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, focusing on identifying candidate genes associated with Autism.

In 2015, they joined DrGene as the Chief Scientific Officer, responsible for developing genetic tests and result interpretation.

During the same year, Erez also worked as a Genetic Sequencing Interpretation Expert at Hospitals and Health Care Services, handling high volumes of genetic data.

In 2018, Erez founded GeneInformed and GeneVironment, establishing an automated platform for genetic analysis and offering clinical exome and genome interpretation for hospitals and labs worldwide.

In 2019, they became the Head of Exome Sequencing Variant Interpretation Services at Maccabi Health Care Services, leading clinical NGS interpretation.

In 2022, Erez joined Illumina as a Genomic Scientist, providing scientific guidance to clinical customers and collaborators and driving innovation in NGS interpretation software solutions. Erez also works as a Staff Genomic Scientist at Illumina's subsidiary, Emedgene.

Erez Tsur pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with their high school education at Boyer highschool in Jerusalem from 1991 to 1997. Erez then went on to attend The Open University of Israel from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biology. Finally, from 2012 to 2015, Erez attended Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, where they earned a M.Med.Sc degree in Genetic Epidemiology.
