Jihan Kim, PhD has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2007 when they served as an Aircrew and Squad Leader in the Republic of Korea Army. In 2012, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where they contributed to fabricating mechanical components of the Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA) project, performed radio frequency antenna response testing, and evaluated low-noise amplifiers using a network analyzer. From 2013 to 2021, they were a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Oregon State University, where they led four research projects to investigate the physical interactions between human breast cancer cells and their surrounding tissues. Jihan designed and created the entire experimental setup, performed data collection, developed customized image analysis tools in MATLAB, and applied statistical analysis and data visualization techniques. Jihan also taught and led undergraduate physics laboratory courses with more than 300 students and created undergraduate physics recitation materials for more than 200 students. In 2021, they began working as a Scientific Developer at Emerald Cloud Lab.

Jihan Kim, PhD has a comprehensive education history. Jihan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2013. Jihan then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Physics from Oregon State University from 2013 to 2016. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from Oregon State University in 2019. Additionally, they attended Korea Aerospace University from 2005 to 2007, but did not receive a degree. In 2021, they obtained certifications in Natural Language Processing with Classification and Vector Spaces, AI for Medicine, Deep Learning, and Learning how to Learn from Coursera.
