Madeleine Sutherland

Scientific Developer at Emerald Cloud Lab

Madeleine Sutherland has a diverse work experience in scientific research. In 2015, they were a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at Smith College, where they conducted research on the participation of small regulatory RNAs (sRNAs) in uropathogenic E. coli's response to human body temperature. In 2016, they were a Research Fellow at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. From 2017 to 2022, they were a Researcher Phd Candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Hong Group in the Francis Bitter Magnet Lab. Her research explored how lipid, protein and water molecules interact to bring about membrane fusion and fission, which is important to our understanding of how viruses like HIV and Influenza enter and exit host cells. Currently, they are a Scientific Developer at Emerald Cloud Lab.

Madeleine Sutherland began their educational career in 2014 when they graduated from Smith College with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. Madeleine then continued their education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Chemistry in 2022.
