JOB TITLE: Calling and Career Ministry Director

REPORTS TO: Director of Area Ministries

STATUS: Full-time, exempt

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Calling & Career Ministry Director provides leadership for all aspects of the designated neighborhood Calling & Career Center for 9th grade through first two years of post-secondary education helping students to discover their purpose and ensure they are on schedule for making the transition to Godly young adults and active in the faith community.  The Director will integrate into the life of the students, helping to facilitate long-term connections and relationships through academic support and enrichment, college and career identification and planning, and post-secondary training selection.  This role will seek and connect mentors with students, connect with college partners, market the center, build social media awareness, and identify and develop other resources.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Oversee neighborhood Calling & Career Center.  Guide Calling & Career Center Coordinators in the selection and coordination of offerings for neighborhood.

  • Build transitional programming for the high school and young adults, encouraging students to be active in faith, community, and serving others, seeking a healthy life-style, and on schedule for post-secondary training.

  • Grow existing and develop new neighborhood/community relationships, especially with the neighborhood high school, to assist in programming and participation related to the Calling & Career Center and serve as the primary liaison.

  • Know students and their families, especially the high school seniors and those in post-secondary training, to help maintain participation levels in programs.  Ensure team builds relationships with students to be able to lead them and encourage them.

  • Ensure team provides quality tutoring services, workshops, field trips, guest speakers and engagement activities.

  • Recruit and train life coaches for relational engagement with freshmen and sophomore college age students.  Monitor and manage the process, providing guidance to the mentors.  Ensure mentors visit students on campus and/or stay in regular contact with student.  Visit students on campus when mentor not available.

  • Help ensure post-secondary students are connecting with faith, learning, and health activities.

  • Make and maintain contacts at colleges to assist students as necessary and communicate these contacts with other Calling & Career Ministry Directors.

  • Help transition students into alumni programs, such as volunteers, AmeriCorps, and staffing positions.

  • Lead, train, and supervise a team consisting of staff and volunteers.

  • Instill and encourage spiritual disciplines for all members and help the team to grow and become better through high standards, discipleship, and modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards.

  • Education, counseling or related Bachelor’s degree.

  • Ideally 5-10 years’ experience in counseling or youth programs coordination.

  • Must hold or obtain a CDL and drive large vehicles/buses.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

  • Willingness to work extended hours.
