Michael Gilday

Advisor at Emerson College

Michael majored in Visual and Media Arts at Emerson with a focus on Audio & New Media Production and a minor in Literature. He was heavily involved with WERS as host of ‘Radio Babylon’ and its offspring ‘Revolutions’ along with serving as Asst Music Director. In Post-Production, Michael was a manager in the Digital Production Lab and was the first to oversee the new ‘Mix to Pix’ Audio for Film/TV suite. Additionally, Michael worked as a senior tour guide for the Admissions office in charge of training incoming tour guides.

Beginning his professional career in Digital Marketing, as it was still being invented in the late 90’s, Michael worked in early digital video on the internet at the Boston agency Circle. As an Interactive Producer, he worked primarily on the truth anti-smoking campaign before becoming an On-Air DJ at WFNX/Lynn and then KUCD/Honolulu upon moving to Hawaii.

In Hawaii, Michael got a job on the pilot of ABC’s Lost and continued working as IATSE crew for the first two seasons (including on-camera cameos in 2 episodes as the founder of the Dharma Initiative). Subsequently moving to LA to work in Film/TV and play Bass in a gigging band.

Michael is now a Producer/Director/Editor with 20 years’ experience in video Production and Post with a specialization in building and growing internal Video Production Capabilities at Agencies and Brands. Michael is currently VP, Storytelling & Creative at DataRobot, an Artificial Intelligence Startup headquartered in Boston that has attained Unicorn status.

Driven by the belief that “you can make good video affordably, but you can’t make it cheap”, Michael strives to create the highest quality video Brand content that achieves client’s objectives while staying on time and on budget. Drawing on his varied experience to create Video that is rooted in story and authenticity. He has created thousands of videos for brands that have received over 7 million organic views.

Former member of IATSE Local 695 (Hollywood) and 665 (Honolulu) Hatch Award Winner Member of ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals For America).
