Bill Gould took the reins of the Emerson College women's basketball program in October 2007. In 2008-2009, he led Emerson to its best record in program history (21-9). That season, the Lions made it to the GNAC championship game for the first time ever and also participated in a post-season tournament for the first time, which included a trip to the ECAC semi-final game. Gould won GNAC Coach of the Year for the 2008-2009 season.
Prior to coming to Emerson, Gould spent two seasons on the Bentley College staff. Bill has also worked as an assistant at Boston College for eight seasons and at Stonehill College.
At BC, Gould’s responsibilities included working with the post players, planning for game time special situations, preparing pre-season and post-season conditioning workouts, assisting with recruiting, game-film breakdown and scheduling non-conference games. The Eagles were 171-77 during his eight years on the staff, with six 20-win seasons, six NCAA appearances and two trips to the Sweet 16.
During the summer of 1999, Bill served on the staff that coached the Big East/Nike Women's Basketball All-Star Team on a five-game tour of Belgium and Germany.
Prior to his stint at BC, Bill spent four years at Stonehill. During that time, the Chieftains registered a record of 107-20 with an appearance in the Division II Fab Four in 1994.
A 1991 graduate of Bridgewater State College, Bill earned a bachelor of arts degree in History. He also holds a master's degree in Administrative Studies from Boston College that he received in 2005.
