PAS Lead at Emerson

Phillip M McGough is currently the PAS Lead at Emerson. Prior to this, they were with Emerson Automation Solutions for 8 years, where they were the Project Technical Lead for Process Automation Systems. In this role, they were responsible for providing sales support, estimates, project execution, design, implementation, testing, installation, commissioning, start-ups projects and solutions based on PMI/PMP/PMO industry standards throughout the entire project life-cycle.

Phillip has extensive experience in gathering and coordinating the analysis of customer's user requirements and inputs for providing automation solutions for a variety of processes, including those in the life science/biotech/pharmaceutical industry GMP/FDA validation, refining catalytic & hydro cracking plants, distillation, saturates gas, catalytic reforming, PSA (pressure swing adsorption) for hydrogen plants, bulk-material handling, polymerization reactors, and thermoplastic film extrusion. Phillip is also skilled in developing complex custom control strategies for continuous, batch & continuous batch hybrids and integration to 3rd party control, SCADA & MES & instrumentation integration via OPC D/A, A&E & UA; Foundation Fieldbus; ProfibusDP & PA; AS-interface; DeviceNet, ControlNet and EthernetIP (CIP); data historians like OSI PI and Aspen Tech IP.21; ModbusTCP and Modbus RTU; scripting using Visual Basic, XML, TypeScript; virtualization; and AMS (asset management software).

In addition to their comprehensive technical skillset, Phillip is also experienced in project execution, managing/leading project execution by providing project control and project management support quantifying/identifying deliverables, managing PAS tasks earned value, estimating to completion (ETC) and developing schedules, identifying scope and change in scope to develop change orders. Phillip has also conducted FEED (front end engineering and design) studies, systems installation and instrument loop check & startup support as well as process dynamic analysis and regulatory PID loop tuning. By leveraging engineering tools to gain efficiencies and reduce risk and rework, Phillip has been able to lead support cross functional global teams and resources effectively.
