Mat also has a strong background in television, having been a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and holding roles at companies like Discovery Channel and FCB Entertainment. Mat holds a Master's degree in Dramatic Literature/Theatre from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor's degree in Theater/English from the University of Minnesota.
