RK Srivastava is currently an advisor at Empe Diagnostics. Prior to this, they worked as the Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Medical Council of India from May 2013 to November 2013. In this role, they were responsible for making final decisions on various issues related to medical colleges, undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, registration of medical doctors, maintenance of medical ethics, and standards of medical education. RK also oversaw the opening of new medical colleges, increasing seats, recognition/derecognition, adding or deleting new specialities, accreditation of medical colleges, revision of syllabus, system reforms, and foreign medical education.

Before their work with the Medical Council of India, Srivastava served as a Senior Policy Analyst for the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare from December 2011 to June 2016. In this role, they were responsible for evaluating policies of the government for health, nutrition, and population. RK also produced evidence-based documents on various topics related to population stabilization. Additionally, they helped organize population policy dialogues in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

RK Srivastava completed their MBBS from KGMC, Lucknow and then pursued MS in PMR from the same college. RK also did DNB in PMR.
