Kristi then attended the University of Pittsburgh from 1989 to 1993, earning a B.A. in Mandarin Chinese and a B.A. in Political Science. In 1992, they briefly studied Intensive Mandarin at the National Taiwan Normal University. From 1995 to 1997, they pursued their M.P.A. in Public Administration at SUNY Brockport. Additionally, during the academic year 1986-1987, Kristi took Correspondence Courses at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, focusing on their sophomore year of high school while studying abroad.
