Empower Project
Sam King is an accomplished technology professional with extensive experience in software engineering and leadership roles. As the Director of Engineering and Principal Software Engineer at the Organizing Empowerment Project since August 2019, Sam focuses on developing an app to enhance community organization and voter participation. As the Founder and Director of Code the Change, initiated in September 2009, Sam has successfully doubled the organization's size annually while refining technology solutions for nonprofits. Previous roles include Engineering Manager and Staff Software Engineer at Nuna Inc., where Sam contributed to healthcare technology optimization, and various engineering positions at Google and healthcare.gov. Sam's academic foundation includes a BS and MS in Computer Science from Stanford University, complemented by significant teaching experience and leadership in advocacy for the LGBTQ community.

The Empower Project provides technology, training, and funding support to organizations. We work with them to develop and implement Relational Organizing plans that fit into their larger mission as well as provide them with the training they need to develop and apply core skills in their volunteers.
