Sara Saad

Global Communications Associate at EMpower

Sara Saad is a Global Communications Associate at EMpower. Sara has previously worked as a Communications Officer at Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojna (RGMVP) from August 2018 to March 2020.

At RGMVP, Sara designed monthly community newsletters for Young Women SHGs and Women SHGs distributed across 7 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Sara also shot, edited, and gave voiceover for in-house films on sustainable livelihoods, health, and nutrition. In addition, Sara developed monthly progress reports, annual reports, year-end emails via MailChimp, designed infographics, IEC materials, and training materials for different campaigns and programmes. Sara also handled different Social Media Platforms of the organisation.

Sara researched, documented, and published more than 100 Case Studies for Livelihoods, Health and Nutrition to be shared with BMGF Breakthrough, Voice for Girls, and Tata Trust. Sara also designed brochures, banners, pamphlets, etc. In addition, Sara developed Project Proposals on Gender and Livelihood. Sara also organized Community-based Campaigns on Gender and Domestic Violence in 49 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Sara assisted Prof. Krista Isaacs from Michigan University in taking Focus Groups Discussions, Interviews for action research on gender equity, and creating agency in rural women. Sara also formed a Theatre group of Young Woman to disseminate information, create awareness, and as a tool for the data collection on Menstrual Health. Lastly, Sara managed and lead a group of Interns from Jamia Milia Islamia (New Delhi) to make a movie and a photobook.

Sara Saad has a Master's in Development Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia and a Bachelor's of Arts in English and Economics from the University of Lucknow. Sara also has a 10th grade certificate from City Montessori School and a certificate from International Indian School Al-Jubail.

Sara Saad reports to Cynthia Steele, President & CEO. Sara Saad works with Larry Bloom - VP, Global Operations & Finance, Aissatou Bah - Director of Adolescent Girls & Gender Initiatives, and Diana Guerrero - Associate Director, Programmes Planning and Operations.
