Derek Burney

Derek Burney is a seasoned technology executive with extensive experience in software engineering and corporate leadership. Currently serving as a Non Executive Board Member at Enablence Technologies since September 2022, Burney previously held multiple high-level roles at Microsoft from 2004 to 2021, including Corporate Vice President for Commercial Software Engineering and the Skype Division, as well as General Manager for the Office Division, overseeing teams for key products like FrontPage, SharePoint, and Excel. Prior to Microsoft, Burney was the CEO of Corel Corporation from 2000 to 2004 and served as Vice President of Engineering and General Manager at IMSI. Early career experience includes a co-op position at Nortel. Burney holds a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Carleton University and attended Seoul Foreign School.
