Jennifer Holmes

Jennifer Holmes has a diverse work experience in the legal and intellectual property field. Jennifer is currently the Head of Legal at Encoded Therapeutics, Inc. since February 2019, where they also previously served as the Head of Intellectual Property from June 2018 to February 2019.

Prior to their role at Encoded Therapeutics, Jennifer worked at Genentech from 2011 to 2018. Their positions at Genentech included Associate Director, Assistant General Counsel, and Practice Group Leader - Cancer Immunology from January 2016 to June 2018. Jennifer also served as Senior Patent Counsel from March 2014 to December 2015 and as Patent Counsel from August 2011 to March 2014.

Before joining Genentech, they worked at Ropes & Gray LLP as Counsel from January 2011 to August 2011 and as an Associate from November 2004 to December 2010. Jennifer also worked as a Patent Agent at Foley Hoag LLP from October 2000 to November 2004 and as a Technology Specialist/Patent Agent at Dike, Bronstein, Roberts & Cushman from July 1999 to October 2000.

Their earlier experience includes working as a Research Scientist at Ciphergen Biosystems from July 1998 to July 1999 and as a Post-Doctoral Associate at Yale University from February 1998 to July 1998.

Jennifer Holmes has a diverse education history. Jennifer began their academic journey at Mount Holyoke College from 1987 to 1991, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree. Their major was Biochemistry, and they also minored in Art History during this time. Jennifer then advanced their studies at Yale University, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry. Jennifer continued their education at the Boston University School of Law from 2001 to 2004, obtaining a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
