Nancy Burkhart

Nancy Burkhart has a vast work experience, beginning in 1989 as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Diagnostic Sciences and Dental Ecology department. Nancy continued their tenure at the university as an assistant professor, providing clinical instruction, lab teaching, and teaching an oral pathology course for dental hygienists. At the same time, they pursued their education degree and was involved in processing oral tissue samples, teaching within the oral pathology program, and assisting in labs and microscope teaching. Nancy also contributed to the biopsy service and observed daily readouts on tissue samples.

In 1997, Burkhart joined the Texas A&M College of Dentistry as a full-time faculty member until 2000, after which they became an adjunct professor. Nancy was promoted to the position of professor in September 2019. Additionally, they co-host and founded the International Oral Lichen Planus Support Group.

Burkhart has also contributed their expertise as a columnist for PennWell since 2007 and Endeavor Business Media since 2019, where they served as a freelance columnist.

Nancy Burkhart's education history begins in 1978 when they attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Nancy then went on to pursue further studies at North Carolina State University from 1988 to 1990, where they obtained a Master of Education degree in Occupational Health Education. Nancy continued their education at the same institution and completed their Doctor of Education degree in Adult Education and Continuing Education/Interdisciplinary studies from 1990 to 1994. In 1995 to 1996, they further enhanced their knowledge and skills by undertaking a fellowship in Oral Pathology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Certificate of Completion/Fellowship in the field of Oral Pathology.
