Vanessa van der Zalm has a diverse work experience in the HR field. Vanessa began their career as an HR Advisor at PostNL in 2004, where they worked until 2006. Vanessa then joined TNT as an Advisor for CEO-COR Mediation, responsible for maintaining a good relationship between the CEO and the Central Works Council. In 2007, they became a Project Manager for the implementation of SAP HR at PostNL.
In 2008, Vanessa joined Spotta, a subsidiary of PostNL, as an HR Manager. Vanessa later became the Manager of Recruitment and Retention, responsible for hiring and communicating with approximately 23,000 folder deliverers. Vanessa held this position until 2016, during which time they were also a member of the PostNL leadership team.
Following their time at Spotta, Vanessa joined Jumbo Supermarkets as an HR Manager for the South Holland and Utrecht regions. In this role, they focused on leadership and talent development. After a year at Jumbo Supermarkets, they moved to Eneco in 2017 as a Senior HR Business Partner for the Consumer business unit. Their responsibilities included translating business strategies into HR strategies and focusing on organizational, leadership, and talent development.
Vanessa's roles at Eneco also included being a Senior HR Business Partner for the Business Technology Organization and Finance, as well as an HR Manager for the COO and BTO divisions. Vanessa was responsible for HR in these departments and was a member of the management teams.
In 2021, Vanessa became the Head of HR Business at Eneco, leading the Senior HR Business Partners team and the Recruitment department. Vanessa also became an HR partner for the Management Board and a member of the HR management team. Vanessa's work experience demonstrates their expertise in HR management, business partnering, talent development, and organizational strategy.
Vanessa van der Zalm completed their Master's degree in Arbeids- en organisatiepsychologie at Leiden University from 1998 to 2003. Vanessa then enrolled in the Young executive program at Horizon from 2003 to 2006, followed by the Young Managers Program (YMA) at Horizon from 2012 to 2013. Currently, they are pursuing certification as a facilitator at Management drives, starting in 2019.
