Ezra Tucker

Director, Data Science at Energetic Insurance

Ezra Tucker is the Director of Data Science at Energetic Insurance. Ezra has been with the company for 4 years, overseeing computational tools and modeling efforts, and developing actuarial models and supporting models.

Prior to joining Energetic Insurance, Ezra was a Resource Planning Analyst at Xcel Energy, where they assisted in the management of the 2017 All-Source Solicitation and facilitated company/bidder communications throughout the process. Ezra also authored novel strategies for utility ownership of renewable generators, analyzed solar production in various regions within Colorado, investigated transmission congestion trends in the San Luis Valley, and developed a wind resource model for southern Colorado.

Ezra began their career as an Engineer, Data and Analytics at Altenex, an Edison Energy Company. There they were responsible for collecting and storing publicly available data from power markets and government agencies, along with internal and 3rd-party proprietary data. Ezra also designed and managed a Postgres database to house data and integrate existing data, coded tools for automated analyses of historical and future electricity pricing data, individual power plants, transmission lines, and other aspects of electricity infrastructure, and modeled power flows using Matpower/Matlab. Additionally, they managed a Linux server, generated maps including client facilities, renewable energy technologies, transmission lines, and geopolitical layers in QGIS, and integrated risk analyses with geospatial analyses using QGIS.

Ezra Tucker attended Stanford University for Civil and Environmental Engineering from 2010 to 2011. They were also a part of the Stanford Solar and Wind Energy Project. They then attended Carleton College from 2006 to 2010, where they got their B.A. in Physics. They were also a part of the competitive dance team, Orchestra, and social dance while they were there. After that, they completed a Data Science Specialization on Coursera, where they received course certificates.
