David Gurney

David Gurney has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. David is currently serving as the Senior Vice President at eMaxx Assurance Group of Companies, Inc. starting from May 2023. Previously, they worked at Parkland Fuel Corporation as the Director of Operational Excellence at Parkland USA from October 2019 to February 2023. Prior to that, they were the Director at Medley Marine Laboratories from August 2011 to February 2023. David also held the position of Vice President of Operations at Tropic Transportation Company from June 2014 to October 2019. Before that, they were the Vice President of Operations at Tropic Oil Company from January 2010 to October 2019. Additionally, they have served as the Director of Warlord Loop from June 2006 to October 2017, and as the Editor of Joint Force Quarterly journal and Senior Fellow at the Institute for National Strategic Studies at the National Defense University from November 2005 to June 2010. Furthermore, David worked as the Director of Future Operations (J35) at the United States Southern Command from 2003 to 2006, and as the Commanding Officer of Marine Attack Squadron 513 from December 2000 to June 2002. David also served as the Regional Action Officer at Marine Corps Forces Atlantic from 1998 to 2000.

David Gurney has a diverse educational background. David obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 1980. Later, they attended U.S. Naval War College from 1985 to 1988, focusing on National Security and Strategic Studies.

In 1996, David attended the USAF Air Command and Staff College, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this period. Subsequently, from 1997 to 1998, they attended the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, where they pursued Airpower Art & Science and Military Security Policy & Strategy, earning a Master of Science degree.

Further in their education journey, David enrolled in the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy in 2002 and 2003. Here, they acquired a Master of Science degree in National Resources Strategy.

Apart from their academic qualifications, David also possesses additional certifications. In 1983, they obtained a Commercial Pilot's License with ratings for Single & Multi-Engine Land and Instrument. Additionally, in 2012, they acquired an Underground Storage Tank Class A License from the State of Florida.
