Azam Thatte, Ph.D has a diverse work experience in various esteemed organizations. Azam started his career in 2008 as a Researcher for NASA, where he worked until 2010. Azam then joined GE Global Research as a Lead Scientist, where he stayed for six years. In 2013 Dr. Thatte won a U.S. Dept. of Energy research grant for developing a revolutionary supercritical CO2 turbine and thus became a Principal Investigator for this U.S. DOE program. In 2015, he joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as an Invited Research Scholar, and in 2016, he became the Director of Engineering & Fundamental Research at Energy Recovery, Inc.

Azam Thatte, Ph.D, has a comprehensive educational background in the field of physics and engineering. Azam began his academic journey at University of Pune (India), where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from 1999 to 2003. Following this, they pursued Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University from 2003 to 2005. Azam Thatte's pursuit of higher education continued as he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2010, where he successfully completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering. In 2015, Dr. Azam Thatte received an Advanced Study Fellowship in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a position he held until 2016.
