Ben Hawley

Senior Scientist at Engage Bio

Ben Hawley has extensive research experience in the field of RNA modifications and their impact on mRNA biology. From 2013 to 2018, they worked as a PhD student and later as a Postdoctoral Researcher at MRC Toxicology Unit, where they discovered the formation and function of DNA:RNA hybrids in the repair response. During this time, they developed new NGS methods and analyses. From 2018 to 2022, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Weill Cornell Medicine, focusing on exploring RNA modifications such as m6A and m6Am and their molecular impact on mRNA stability and translation. Currently, they are employed at Engage Bio as a Senior Scientist, starting in October 2022.

Ben Hawley completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the MRC Toxicology Unit, which they attended from 2013 to 2017. Prior to this, they pursued a degree in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Leeds from 2010 to 2013, focusing on Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology.
