David de Villiers has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. David is currently working as the Head of Business Development Mini-Grids and SHS Wholesale at ENGIE Energy Access (Africa) since August 2021.

Prior to this, David worked at ENGIE from 2018 to 2021, where they held the role of Business Development Renewables - Telecoms, Mini-Grids and C&I. Their responsibilities included strategizing for the vertical market, facilitating synergies between different regions, referencing legal frameworks and contracts, and designing risk matrices.

Before joining ENGIE, David held various positions in different companies. David worked as a Business Development Manager at CYSALYS Technologies in 2018 and at Qowisio from 2015 to 2018, where they focused on new business development, identifying opportunities in the power efficiency and remote monitoring asset management services sectors, and growing the customer base and regional presence.

David also has experience as Director of Magnitron Consultancy from 2014 to 2018, where they provided renewable energy consultancy services and engaged in product OEM import and export. David served as the General Manager at Inala Technologies from 2003 to 2014, where they developed strategic plans for productivity optimization and ensured organizational effectiveness. Earlier in their career, David worked as a Director at Channels Measurement Services from 1999 to 2003, overseeing projects, budgets, and cash flow, and as a Sales Engineer at BSW Channels from 1994 to 1999, where they led design teams, managed sales budgets, and provided customer support. David began their career as a Systems Engineer at Alcatel from 1991 to 1994, where they worked on technical specifications and evaluations.

David de Villiers has demonstrated strong expertise in business development, strategic planning, renewable energy, and telecommunications. David has a proven track record of growing customer bases, expanding regional presence, and fostering synergies between different areas of operation.

David de Villiers has a diverse education history. David obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from MANCOSA between 2021 and 2023. Additionally, they attended P & T Technology from 2013 to 2014, where they received a qualification in Three Phase Motors and Control Circuits. During the same period at P & T Technology, they also earned certification as a Three Phase Industrial/Commercial Installation Electrician. Prior to that, they attended Johannesburg Technical College from 1986 to 1989, where they obtained a National Diploma (NQF6) in Electrical Engineering/Telecommunications. Their secondary education took place at Linden High from 1981 to 1985, but no specific degree or field of study is provided. In addition to their formal education, David has also obtained several certifications, such as "Everything as a Service (XaaS) is the Future of Business" from LinkedIn, "Reading Financial Statements" from Corporate Finance Institute® (CFI), and "Embodying the Leadership Way - MESCATA BU" from ENGIE, all in 2021.
