Rafael Flores has a diverse work experience in various roles within the energy sector. Rafael started their career in 1995 as a Principal Engineer at EGEMSA. Rafael then worked as a Consultant at BA Energy Solutions from 1999 to 2001. Afterwards, they joined Sociedad Integrada de Consultoria - SIDEC as an Energy Consultant for a few months in 2004.
In 2004, Rafael joined EnerSur - ENGIE as a Commercial Risk Analyst and later became the Commercial Director. At EnerSur - ENGIE, they developed and implemented strategic plans for power purchase agreement negotiations and established a structure for billing, sales, and price forecasting. Rafael also introduced a risk analysis methodology for PPA negotiations.
In 2012, Rafael returned to Sociedad Integrada de Consultoria - SIDEC as an Associate Partner. Rafael worked as a consultant in the energy services and was involved in negotiating power purchase agreements and developing strategic business plans for mining expansion.
In 2017, they became the CEO and Board Member of ENGIE Services Peru, where they played a key leadership role.
In 2019, Rafael served as the Chairman of IEEE PES Peru, leading the IEEE Power and Energy Society to enhance its technical activities and promote networking among its members.
Most recently, Rafael worked at ENGIE Peru, where they held several positions. Rafael started as a Senior VP of Business Development, actively seeking potential business opportunities in the energy sector. Later, they became a Senior Business Developer, focusing on project development and negotiation. From 2020, they served as the Head Solutions to Mining Latam / Asset Based Customer Solution Coordinator, leading projects related to mining solutions, transmission lines, and heat efficiency. Finally, they became the Head of Business Development Networks, responsible for the development of transmission lines projects.
Throughout their career, Rafael has been involved in project development, negotiation of contracts and agreements, project finance, and strategic planning in the energy sector.
Rafael Flores has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco, which they obtained from 1987 to 1994. Rafael also holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, completed between 1997 and 1999. Additionally, Rafael earned a Licentiate degree in Electricity from Chalmers University of Technology from 2001 to 2004. In 2007, they attended Georgia Institute of Technology, specializing in Modern Energy Management Systems. Finally, in 2010 and 2011, they attended CEDEP - Executive Development in Fontainebleau, completing the General Management Program.
