About the Position

  • Provide civil/structural design engineering associated with senior level engineering supervision and produce engineering details to ensure efficient communication with drafting and design team.
  • Structural steel design engineering for pipe racks, vessel supports, process and specialty structures including welded and bolted connections.
  • Foundation design for spread footings, mats, drilled piers, driven piles, and pile caps.
  • Anchor bolt design for cast in place and post installed anchors.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and complete design models and calculations to meet project requirements, applicable codes/industry standards.
  • Conduct field investigations when needed; produce field reports with detailed sketches.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure quality product.

Required Skills/ Abilities

  • Be in good standing with DISA and valid TWIC (or the ability to obtain both) are required.
  • Understanding of RISA-3D and/or STAAD is preferred.
  • Experience in dynamic analysis for foundations and structures a plus.
  • Experience in structural design and analysis.
  • Results driven critical thinker and problem solver.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience in civil/structural design for chemical, refinery or oil and gas projects preferred.
  • Understanding of current and immediate past revisions of AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, ASCE 7, Process Industry Practices (PIP), and the ASCE supplemental report on Wind Loads for Petrochemical and other Industrial Facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Climbing (stairs/ladders) and field visits are required.

  • Exposure to outdoors

  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).  This includes hardhat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other equipment as required.

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
