Ruth Nieuwenhuis

Ruth Nieuwenhuis currently serves as Discipline Counsel at Engineers and Geoscientists BC, a position held since February 2022. Prior to this role, Ruth was an Associate at Guild Yule LLP from January 2020 to February 2022 and at McMillan LLP from September 2017 to December 2019, where Ruth also completed a summer law internship in 2015. Ruth's earlier career includes roles in social work, including positions as a Social Worker at The Scarborough Hospital and as a Social Work Intern at both Princess Margaret Hospital and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. Ruth began the professional journey as a Psychiatric Crisis Counsellor at Youthdale Treatment Centre and worked as an Environmental Assistant for the City of Calgary. Ruth holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from The University of British Columbia, a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) from Wilfrid Laurier University, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Redeemer University.
