Gwendolyn Bogard is a Senior Government Relations Officer at AAAS, where responsibilities include managing the AAAS Policy Alert newsletter, co-chairing the Golden Goose Award steering committee, and overseeing multiple advocacy initiatives in the science community. Additional experience includes developing training resources for Engineers & Scientists Acting Locally and conducting research for the Science Advocacy Institute to support workforce development in science policy. Previous roles encompass program and communications positions at Research!America, as well as an internship with the U.S. House of Representatives, focusing on science policy issues. Gwendolyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Southern Oregon University.

Engineers & Scientists Acting Locally (ESAL) is a national 501(c)3 organization committed to increasing civic participation among people with backgrounds in STEM. Founded by engineers and scientists experienced in public policy, ESAL serves as a platform for bridging technical expertise with community needs. Operating as a non-partisan and non-advocacy group, we facilitate informed dialogue, encourage innovative problem-solving, and support the integration of scientific insights into local decision-making processes. Our goal is to build a robust network of STEM experts who are dedicated to driving positive change within their communities.
