Victor Prima

Research Scientist in Cell and Molecular Biology at entrinsic bioscience

Victor Prima has diverse experience in the field of biology and research. Victor is currently working as a Research Scientist in Cell and Molecular Biology at Entrinsic Bioscience since September 2021. Prior to that, from January 2021 to June 2021, they worked as a Biological Scientist II at the University of Florida.

From 2013 to 2018, Victor Prima was a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Florida, where they focused on designing and testing novel gene therapy AAV vectors for metastatic medullary thyroid carcinoma and developing immunotherapies for urologic cancers. Victor also engineered chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) and characterized CAR-T cells modified using various transduction systems.

Before their tenure at the University of Florida, Victor Prima was a Principal Scientist at Banyan Biomarkers Inc from 2008 to 2012. Their work involved studying mechanisms and biomarkers of blast-induced polytrauma and endotoxicity/hepatotoxicity. Victor also developed rodent models for neurotrauma and sepsis and explored the modulation of innate immunity with recombinant proteins.

From 2002 to 2007, Victor Prima worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Florida. During this time, they focused on identifying genes involved in chromosome translocations in childhood leukemia and conducting functional characterization of genetic abnormalities in cancer cells.

Victor Prima has a strong educational background in the field of molecular biology and genetics. Victor received their Master's Degree from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University) (MIPT) between 1967 and 1973. Following this, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics in Kiev, Ukraine, from 1975 to 1983. Later, they engaged in postdoctoral research as a Fellow at the Gene Therapy Center at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, from 1998 to 2002, focusing on genetic engineering.
