Wendy Putnam

Senior Strategic Outreach & Communications Associate, Latin America & Caribbean at Environmental Incentives

Wendy is a Senior Strategic Outreach and Communications Specialist supporting Environmental Incentives’ international practice area. Wendy’s career in communications spans 30 years, including serving as a magazine editor, volunteering with the Peace Corps, and supporting numerous international development activities. While she has worked in the water, sanitation, and hygiene space for the past 15 years, its cross-sectoral nature has meant that she’s written and researched content touching upon climate change, biodiversity, natural resources management, governance and finance, and global health, among other areas.

Throughout her career in communications and knowledge management, Wendy has managed the development and production of many communications products—annual reports, newsletters, technical reports, websites, and infographics. She has also designed communications strategies for a number of USAID activities.

A storyteller at heart, Wendy considers her most important job is to convey the breadth and depth of her client’s work in a compelling and accessible way. She wants people to understand how programming and funding translate into positive change for the environment and the people who depend upon it. She considers herself very fortunate to have been able to apply her communications skills to activities that are meaningful and important and that can effect positive change in people’s lives.
