Dessa Lightfoot is an accomplished archaeologist with extensive experience in various roles within the field. Currently serving as an Archaeologist at Environmental Research Group, LLC since February 2022, Dessa has previously held positions such as Project Archaeologist at the William and Mary Center for Archaeological Research and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and Temporary Project Archaeologist at the same foundation. Notably, Dessa developed and led educational programs for children at Colonial Williamsburg, demonstrating a commitment to public engagement in archaeology. Additionally, Dessa has experience as an Environmental Archaeology Laboratory Technician, where responsibilities included analyzing and curating archaeological materials and contributing to research publications. An adjunct instructor at the College of William and Mary, Dessa taught advanced courses in zooarchaeological methodology. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Anthropology from the College of William and Mary, a Master’s Degree in Anthropology from The University of New Mexico, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Textual Studies from Syracuse University.

Founded in 2000, ERG provides environmental consulting services via projects and on-site staff needs. We provide expertise in cultural heritage, natural resources, environmental compliance, NEPA, and restoration management. ERG: Trust, Expertise, Compassion. Derived from the Greek word ergon, meaning work, erg is a unit of energy. ERG focuses its energy on providing high-caliber environmental services to firms and government agencies, including on-site and traditional project support. We direct our energy towards our customers' missions and exceed expectations.
