About EOS Aircraft, Inc.:

EOS Aircraft, Inc. is an innovative aviation company dedicated to developing a new revolutionary regional aircraft that represents the next leap in sustainable aviation technology. Our mission is to redefine regional air travel by offering an environmentally friendly, efficient, and advanced aircraft solution. We are on a journey to make air travel more sustainable and accessible, and we're looking for a Principal Mass Properties Engineer to lead our efforts in this exciting and challenging endeavor.

While reporting to the Head of Aircraft Integration, the dynamic role of Principal Mass Properties Engineer for our new airplane development program, you will be deeply integrated into the conceptual and preliminary design phases, working hand-in-hand with the entire engineering team and leadership. Your journey starts with a focus on developing, implementing, and leading the overall aircraft weight control plan, assessing the initial weight estimates, and collaborating with design engineers to assess the impact of various configurations and features in achieving the performance of a unique airplane in the regional aircraft segment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Direct the analysis and management of mass properties (weight, center of gravity, inertia) for complex aerospace systems.

  • Teaming: Collaborate with internal and external design and production engineering teams and suppliers to optimize structures, systems, and components for weight efficiency.

  • Standardization: Develop, establish, and implement mass properties estimation methods and SAWE best practices.

  • Communication: Conduct weight control and tracking throughout the design and development phases providing dashboards to guide the engineering team and program leadership.

  • Support: Work closely with the Loads & Dynamics Group to develop inertia data needed for technical analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to mass properties.

  • Collaboration: Work with the Loads & Dynamics and Stability & Control Groups to develop the center of gravity envelope.

  • Risk Management: Anticipate, collect, manage, and mitigate or implement weight risk and opportunities.

  • Influence: Proactively participate in trade studies to help guide the team on weight efficient solutions.

  • Validate: Coordinate with manufacturing and assembly teams to influence and confirm mass properties through testing and evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 13 years in aerospace engineering, with at least 10 years in a leadership role focused on managing aircraft mass properties from conceptual design through program development gates, specific application to large transport category aircraft is strongly desired.

  • Leadership: Exceptional team leadership and project management skills, with a history of managing multiple initiatives at the same time.

  • Proficiency in mass properties software tools (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks as well as the full suite of MS Office products including Excel).

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to address technical challenges.

  • Communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively presenting technical and programmatic data to leadership, internal engineering, consultants, partners, and suppliers.

  • Flexibility: Ability to lead projects and work independently.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Desired Attributes:

  • Passionate about aviation innovation and sustainability.

  • Understanding of roles & responsibilities, tasks, policies and procedures required to manage the mass properties engineering processes including the change process, configuration management, data management, risk management, and data maintained in the PLM environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace materials, structures, and systems to include working with composite materials and the development of mass properties processes with those materials.

  • Experience in manufacturing weight control.

  • Strong experience in structuring supplier contracts to address mass properties’ needs.

  • Experience with mass properties database development is desired.

Joining EOS Aircraft, Inc. means being part of a dynamic team that is passionate about creating the future of aviation. You'll be at the forefront on the development of the world’s most sustainable regional aircraft. We offer a stimulating work environment where your contributions will have a direct impact on the world, promoting greener, more efficient air travel.
