Carlos Sarmiento

Carlos Sarmiento is a senior analyst for new projects in LATAM at EP Carbon since June 2019, focusing on Nature-Based Solutions and Climate Change. Previously, Sarmiento held roles at Conservation International as an MRV expert and consultant, managing climate adaptation projects from July 2017 to June 2019. Prior to that, Sarmiento served as a senior researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute, overseeing strategic ecosystem policy from September 2016 to June 2017, and coordinated various projects concerning strategic ecosystems and biodiversity from 2009 to 2016. Sarmiento began the career at Parques Nacionales de Colombia as a consultant in biodiversity monitoring from 1999 to 2008. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Biology from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and a degree in Geography from the same institution.
