Paul Yoo

Chief Scientific Officer at Equinox

Dr. Paul Yoo is a board-certified ophthalmologist and the current Chief Scientific Officer at Equinox. Paul has over 15 years of experience in the ophthalmology industry, specializing in clinical research and regulatory affairs.

Dr. Yoo began their career as an Investigator/Quality Assurance at Sall Research Medical Center, where they were responsible for multiple ophthalmic drug and device studies. Paul then became the Clinical Director at Vision Plus Medical Group, where they oversaw all clinical operations for the practice. In 2004, they joined AcuFocus, Inc. as Sr. Director, Global Clinical Research. During their time at AcuFocus, they were responsible for the PMA approval of a novel corneal inlay.

In 2010, Dr. Yoo joined Equinox Ophthalmic, Inc. as Vice President, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs. Paul was responsible for the development and implementation of clinical strategies for Equinox’s product pipeline. In 2017, they left Equinox to join ClarVista Medical, Inc. as Vice President, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs. At ClarVista, they oversaw the development of a novel modular intraocular lens technology which was acquired by Alcon in 2018. Paul returned to Equinox in 2018 and has been serving as Chief Scientific Officer since 2020.

Paul Yoo earned their Doctor of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry and their B.A. in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from University of California, Berkeley.
