Consulting Engineer II at Equity Engineering Group

Ms. Downie is involved in engineering consulting services for metallurgy, corrosion, risk-based inspection (RBI), inspection planning, corrosion control documents (CCDs), and integrity operating windows (IOWs) for refining and petrochemical facilities. Her responsibilities include damage mechanism identification, shutdown work scope reviews using RBI techniques, materials selection, and corrosion control. She provides technical support and engineering consulting for all levels of refinery technical experts and management.

Ms. Downie’s work experience includes 13 years in the refining industry as a plant metallurgist and corrosion engineer focused on improving reliability and risk reduction. Her expertise includes implementation of RBI, materials selection, corrosion control planning, and troubleshooting, NDE evaluation for finding expected damage, development of standards and procedures, and inspection and repair packages for shutdown activities. She also provides training courses and technical presentations for plant Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Inspection on subjects including RBI methodology and software, and damage mechanism awareness and prevention.

Ms. Downie is a member of NACE and has previously been active with the API RBI Technical Committee. She has continued her education through API, ASTM, and NACE courses.
