Aalt-Jan Smits

Aalt-Jan Smits is a versatile academic and entrepreneur currently serving as a Member of the Young Researchers Group at the European Banking Institute and as a Research Fellow at the International Center for Financial Law & Governance. Aalt-Jan is pursuing a PhD as a Doctoral Researcher at Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, with a focus on Corporate & Financial Law, and has held various research positions at the same university. Additionally, Aalt-Jan founded Admonitio Advisory, a consultancy specializing in management and business operations. Aalt-Jan holds multiple degrees, including a Cum Laude Master's in Financial Economics and another in Financial Law, both from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Previous experience includes roles as a Junior Researcher and Business Analyst, along with project-based research on compliance within Dutch pension funds.
