Jesse Doty has worked as an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga since August 2013. In this role, they are responsible for Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Resident Education, focusing on sports medicine, acute fracture care, and chronic deformity correction in the lower extremity. Jesse has also worked as the Director of Foot and Ankle Surgery at Erlanger Health System since 2013.

Jesse Doty has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology from Carson-Newman University, which was obtained from 1999 to 2003. Jesse then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, attending from 2003 to 2007. Following that, Jesse completed an Orthopedic Surgery Residency from 2007 to 2012 at the same institution. Additionally, Jesse completed a Foot & Ankle Surgical Fellowship at Coughlin Foot and Ankle Clinic in Boise, Idaho from 2012 to 2013. In December 2020, Jesse obtained a certification titled "Basic Human Subject Protections + Good Clinical Practice for Clinical Researchers" from CITI Program, A Division of BRANY.
