Patrick Thornton

Patrick Thornton has an extensive work history, starting in 2003 as a Marketing Executive at Ardee Sports Company. Patrick then moved on to Marketing Partners, where they worked as a Senior Marketing Consultant from 2004 to 2008. Following that, they joined Boyne Valley Group as a Senior Brand Manager from 2008 to 2011.

In 2011, Thornton joined PADDYPOWER as the Head of Poker, responsible for the online poker division. After that, they took on the role of Live Casino Marketing Manager, overseeing Paddy Power's fastest-growing online vertical. Patrick worked in these positions until 2015.

In 2015, Thornton became the Head of Online Gaming and VIP at BoyleSports. In this role, they led a transformation program to optimize various aspects of the business, including product offering, game mix, and CRM.

From 2017 to 2020, Thornton worked at Smartbox Group as the Director of Bookings, Redemptions, and Digital Analytics. During this time, they streamlined reporting processes and consolidated multiple reports into a more cohesive system.

In 2019, Thornton also took on a part-time lecturer role at Dundalk Institute of Technology, where they taught until 2021.

Currently, Thornton is the Global Trading Director at ESW, starting in September 2021. Prior to this, they were the Head of International E-Commerce at ESW from January to August 2021.

Through their various roles, Thornton has gained extensive experience in digital analytics, marketing, leadership, and strategy development in the retail, gaming, and e-commerce sectors.

Patrick Thornton earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin, where they attended from 1997 to 2000. Subsequently, they pursued their Masters of Science in Marketing Practise at Smurfit Business School from 2001 to 2002.
