Head Of Engineering at Eskom Holdings

Ipfi Mudau has a diverse work experience in the fields of engineering and management. Ipfi started their career at Rand Water as a Mechanical Engineer and worked there from September 1999 to April 2005. In 2005, they joined Corobrik (Pty) Ltd as an Assistant Factory and Mine Manager until July 2007.

From 2007 onwards, Ipfi Mudau joined Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd and held various positions. Ipfi served as the Lead Package Engineer and Senior Engineer Turbines for the Medupi Power Station project from August 2007 to October 2009. Ipfi then became an Engineering Project Manager for projects at Arnot Power Station and Medupi Power Station from November 2009 to January 2011. Subsequently, they took on the role of Design Engineering Manager for the Duvha Power Station project from February 2011 to November 2014. During this period, they also briefly served as the Operations Manager (Trainee) at Duvha Power Stations.

From December 2014 to October 2015, they worked as a Maintenance Manager, overseeing the maintenance departments and being part of the Executive Management Team and the Investment and Tender Committee at Tutuka and Komati Power Stations. Ipfi then became the Manager Projects and Outage for the Komati Power Station project from November 2015 to December 2016, managing projects and outages with significant budgets.

From January 2017 to March 2020, Ipfi Mudau was the Head of Project and Construction Management for the Kusile Power Station project, which involved managing the construction of a power generation plant with a large budget and a large on-site personnel team. Ipfi then became the Coal Supply Operations Unit Manager at Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd from April 2020 to March 2022, where they managed the Coal Supply Agreements program and developed short, medium, and long-term strategies for the program.

Most recently, Ipfi Mudau has been serving as the Head of Engineering at Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd since April 2022. In this role, they have developed a sustainable 5-year capital expansion program and provides management and leadership to a team of Engineers. Ipfi is also responsible for conducting design and design reviews for water and coal handling infrastructures.

Ipfi Mudau obtained a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg between 1995 and 2000. In 2001 and 2002, Mudau pursued a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering at the same university.

Afterward, Mudau attended the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria from 2004 to 2007, where they completed a BSc. Honours in the Management of Technology. Mudau then continued their education at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria in 2008 and obtained a Masters degree in Technology of Management.
