Ruslan Jermakov has a diversified work experience in the maritime industry. Ruslan started their career at Victoria Repair Group as an Assistant of Mechanic from June 2006 to August 2010. Ruslan then worked with various companies such as Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG, DS SCHIFFAHRT GMBH, Aldena repair group, and Wisby Tankers as a Repair Engineer from 2015 to 2016. In 2016, they joined Tallink Grupp as an Able Motorman and later served as a 3rd Engineer and 2nd Engineer. From 2017 to 2020, they worked as a Project Manager at Rasman Group. In 2019, they joined Bore Ltd as a 1st Engineer until December 2022. Currently, they are employed at ESL Shipping Ltd as a 1st Engineer and is slated to become the Chief Engineer from September 2023.

Ruslan Jermakov's education history begins in 2000 when they attended Tallinn Juhkenatli Grammar School for their primary education. From 2007 to 2010, they studied at Tallinn Transport School, obtaining a degree in secondary professional education with a focus on assistant engineering. In 2016, they underwent training in medical care and first aid from REVAL MARINE & OFFSHORE TRAINING. In 2019, they completed the Finnish maritime legislation course at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. Ruslan also obtained the Finnish watchkeeping engineer endorsement STCW III/1 from Liikenne- ja viestintävirasto Traficom / Transport- och kommunikationsverket Traficom.

Furthermore, Ruslan has acquired certifications such as Chief Engineer STCW III/2 from the Estonian Maritime Department in 2022 and High Voltage Training Operational and Management Level from Estonian Maritime Academy in 2017. Ruslan has also completed various courses and trainings in crisis management, human behavior, passenger safety, engine resource management, seafarer security duties, SOLAS, proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats, and advanced fire fighting.
