Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen

Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen has extensive work experience in various roles related to safety, operations, and management.

Suvi-Tuuli is currently working at ESL Shipping Ltd as the HSEQ Manager, DPA, and CSO.

Prior to that, they worked at Port of HaminaKotka Ltd where they served as the Operations Manager, OSHM, PFSO from August 2022 to May 2023. Before that, they held the position of Development Manager, OSHM, PFSO from January 2021 to August 2022 and Deputy Manager, Traffic and Safety from January 2020 to January 2021.

From 2017 to 2020, they worked at Oiltanking Finland Ltd as the HSSE Manager.

Their previous experience includes working at Port of HaminaKotka Ltd as a Duty Officer, PFSO from September 2011 to January 2017.

Suvi-Tuuli also worked at KyUAS as an Education Planner from February 2007 to August 2011.

Suvi-Tuuli began their career as a Deck Officer at ESL Shipping Ltd from July 2002 to August 2006.

Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen's education history includes a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Master Mariner from KyUAS, which they obtained from 1999 to 2006. After that, they pursued a Master's degree in Marine Technology with a specialization in Maritime Management from KyUAS, completing it from 2013 to 2015. Following their master's, Suvi-Tuuli attended KSAO Adult Education Center from 2015 to 2018, where they acquired a Safety and Security Supervisor qualification. Suvi-Tuuli then enrolled in the Centre for Maritime & Industrial Safety Technology C-MIST for a short duration in 2018, focusing on Oil and Chemical Terminal Operations Management. In 2019 to 2020, they attended LUT University and earned a Master of Science degree in Biorefineries. Suvi-Tuuli continued their education at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health in 2021, where they obtained the EurOSHM (European Occupational Safety and Health Manager) certification. Currently, they are pursuing a PhD in Maritime Transport at TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, starting in 2022.
