Mario Picano

Mario Picano is an experienced finance professional currently serving as a Risk Officer at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) since November 2021. As the founder of Ecorapido since 2010, Mario has demonstrated entrepreneurial skills in the finance sector. Previous roles include serving as an Analyst in the Model Validation Division and the Applications and Data Management Division at the European Investment Bank (EIB) from July 2019 to October 2021, where responsibilities involved credit, capital, and ALM models, as well as risk management. Mario also gained experience as a Data Scientist Trainee at the European Central Bank and held positions as a Consultant at Bidwells and a Quantitative Risk Analyst at Deloitte, focusing on credit risk. Mario holds a Master of Science in Computational Finance from UCL and a Master of Science in Mathematical Engineering with a major in Quantitative Finance from Politecnico di Milano, complemented by a Bachelor of Engineering in Energy Engineering from the same institution.
