Peter Verschoor

Senior Database Administrator at ESO

Peter Verschoor has over 20 years of work experience in the field of database administration and development. Peter began their career in 1991 at Bloemenveiling Aalsmeer, where they developed software applications for flower auctions. Peter then joined the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Kingdom Relationships as a system designer, where they owned the National Location Database.

In 2000, Peter became a database developer at Etera Corp, where they designed, created, and maintained databases for web-enabling garden centers. Peter also developed stored procedures and implemented order information systems. Peter later worked as a database developer at Advantage Factory, supporting clients in developing e-business solutions, and at Excell Data Corp, re-engineering and migrating data for MSN billing processes.

In 2004, Peter joined Volt Information Sciences as a database developer, creating pricing and discounting tools for MS Sales Integrated Reporting. Peter then worked at Microsoft as a Software Development Engineer, responsible for designing and implementing business logic in databases and creating test codes.

From 2017 to 2018, Peter took a sabbatical before joining ESO as a Senior Database Administrator in 2018. In this role, they manage SQL Server databases, focusing on performance monitoring, optimization, and code deployments.

Throughout their career, Peter has gained expertise in SQL Server, Azure, stored procedures, DDL/DML optimization, and data migration. Peter has also contributed to the creation of database coding standards and the development of reporting systems.

Peter Verschoor attended Wageningen University & Research from 1983 to 1989, where they obtained a Master's degree in Forest Management/Forest Resources Management.
