Maarten Naesens

Maarten Naesens is a distinguished academic and clinical professional with extensive experience in microbiology, immunology, and transplantation. At KU Leuven since October 2011, Maarten has held various academic positions, culminating in the role of Professor of Microbiology, Immunology & Transplantation. Concurrently, Maarten serves as a Senior Clinical Investigator at Research Foundation Flanders - FWO and a Councillor for the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT). At UZ Leuven, Maarten has contributed significantly as Associate Clinical Director of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation. Maarten's educational background includes a summa cum laude MD and a PhD in Medical Sciences from KU Leuven, complemented by fellowships and research positions at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University.
