Christine Nieves

Christine Nieves has a diverse work experience in various nonprofit organizations. Christine started their career as a Resource Developer at CENTRO NUEVA CREACION-NEW CREATION, where they focused on foundation relations, proposal development, grants management, and board engagement. Christine then worked as a Development Associate at Nueva Esperanza Inc., where they were responsible for proposal development and raising support from foundation, corporate, and government sources.

Later, Christine joined Esperanza as the Director of Grants and Donor Relations, collaborating with executive leadership and the board development committee to achieve fundraising goals. Christine secured government and private funding opportunities for programs and initiatives, focusing on community development, workforce development, immigration services, re-entry, capacity building, and youth mentoring.

Christine also worked as an Instructor/Consultant at Esperanza Capacity Institute, facilitating workshops for faith-based organizations. At In The Light Ministries of Philadelphia, they served as a Program Officer.

In their most recent roles at Women Against Abuse, Inc, Christine made significant contributions. As the Director of Fund Development, they diversified the organization's revenue through various giving channels and established the agency's first planned giving program. Christine also served as the Director of Institutional Giving, overseeing sponsor cultivation, strategic growth, and engagement of corporate supporters. Additionally, they held the position of Racial Equity Officer, working to ensure racial equity as a core priority within the agency and supporting ongoing learning and accountability.

Christine's current role is the Senior Vice President of Development at Esperanza, where they provide leadership and oversees the development department. Christine'sexperience includes fundraising, racial equity work, donor cultivation, and strategic planning.

Christine Nieves obtained their Bachelor's degree in History, with a focus on African Diaspora, from Williams College. Christine attended this institution from 2002 to 2006. In 2017, they attended The Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia for an unspecified degree and field of study, and they completed their studies there in 2019. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) from CFRE International in October 2019.
