Roy H.j. Erkens

Roy H.J. Erkens is an accomplished academic and professional in the fields of ecology, evolution, and biodiversity, currently serving as a Member of the Societal Advisory Board for Staatsbosbeheer and as an Executive Board member for Stichting Biowetenschappen en Maatschappij. With a long-standing role at Naturalis Biodiversity Center Nederland, Roy holds positions as Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board and as a member. At Maastricht University, Roy contributes as an Associate Professor in Evolutionary Diversity and Biogeography while also taking on roles as Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in Plant Evolutionary Biology. Additional involvement includes serving as a General Board member of NIBI, Associate Editor for Frontiers of Biogeography, and previously as Vice Chair of Treub Maatschappij. Educational background includes a PhD in Ecology, Evolution, Systematics, and Population Biology from Utrecht University, complemented by a BSc and MSc in Biology from the same institution.
