USA Controller at eToro

Alain Tennekoon is currently the USA Controller at eToro. Prior to this, they were the Senior Manager Controller, Trade at Circle from November 2018 to June 2019. In this role, they were responsible for the global controller for Circle Trade and managed a team of senior accountants performing reconciliations of all trading activities including gain/ loss on activity, mark-to-market, and assets held at month end. Alain also presented monthly trading P&L, P&L performance, and key balance sheet positions to CFO and Finance/ Accounting team to identify patterns, derailleurs, and keep CFO and finance team informed.

In addition, they developed accounting policies and procedures for the treasury and trading business including risk surveillance and exposure, trading limits, and separation of duties. Alain also revamped internal controls by identifying and closing control gaps and established processes and procedures to minimize operational risk. Furthermore, they conducted analysis of the wider finance and accounting team to reduce redundancy and month-end close time with greatly improved controls and automation. Lastly, they oversaw collaboration between finance, trading team, and settlements team to resolve operational and booking issues. This includes creation of a finance committee that helped to reduce errors and month-end close time.

Alain Tennekoon has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management Information Systems from Penn State University, as well as certifications from FINRA in Series 24 - General Securities Principal, Series 27 - Financial and Operations Principal, Series 99 – Operations Professional, and Real Estate Salesperson from the New Jersey State Department of Banking and Insurance. Alain is also certified by the Blockchain Council as a Certified Cryptocurrency Expert, Certified Blockchain Expert, and Certified Ethereum Expert (CEE).
