Heather Barton, Ed.D. has extensive work experience in the field of education. Heather currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at Kennesaw State University Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prior to this, they worked at The College Board as a Table Leader and AP Reader for the AP English Language exam. Heather also presented at The College Board on the topic of becoming a writing coach in the AP English classroom. Heather previously served as a Secondary English Teacher at Cherokee County Schools for over 10 years, where they taught various courses and held leadership roles such as Faculty Director & Founder of the East Wing Peer Tutoring Center and English Department Head. Heather also worked as a Founder/Faculty Director at the Etowah East Wing Tutoring Center. In addition, Heather has been involved in various professional organizations such as the Secondary Schools Writing Center Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the Georgia Council of Teachers of Writing, where they have presented on topics related to writing instruction and building inclusive spaces in secondary school settings. Heather has also worked as a GaDOE AP Virtual Specialist at the Georgia Department of Education, where they developed webinars to support AP Language teachers throughout the state.

Heather Barton, Ed.D. earned their Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Teaching from Kennesaw State University in 2008-2010. Heather continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Education in Secondary Education and Teaching in 2012-2013. Heather further pursued their studies and completed a Specialist Degree, EdS in Secondary Education and Teaching from Kennesaw State University in 2014-2015. Lastly, they obtained a Doctor of Education, EdD in Secondary Education and Teaching from Kennesaw State University in 2015-2017. Additionally, Heather has obtained additional certifications including AP English Literature & Composition and AP English Language & Composition from The College Board, as well as certifications in Executive Coaching and Gifted Endorsement from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
